Sexual Assault Awareness Month is in April, but there are plenty of ways to start the work of ending sexual violence in our community right now. Yesterday, Alamogordo celebrated One Billion Rising with the rest of the world, and tonight starts two weekends of V-Day performances at NMSU-A's Rohovec Theater.

Shattering the Silence Coverage in the Alamogordo Daily News

Tonight is the first performance of Shattering the Silence, a V-Day production featuring local Otero County stories. Tickets are available at the door and performances are this Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 2:00pm.

Next weekend, the direction will shift a bit as the NMSU-A Theater on the Hill presents Eve Ensler's A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer. Tickets are available now.

On Friday, July 13, Holloman's annual BigGive competition kicked off! This year, SANE Otero / Lincoln was honored to be chosen as a project for the NM Mudslingers. Our goal - to remodel our clinic on Washington to make it more functional for SANE exams as well as community education and outreach. The project began with a bang (if that's what an inflatable hammer with Scooby Doo sounds like???) and it is just so exciting to see the work being done in our office. Many community members donated materials for our remodel and the NM Mudslingers are donating all the labor. What an incredible opportunity for the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners of Otero & Lincoln County. Stay tuned for pictures and updates on the remodel and other activities and programs we'll be launching this fall.
